Point
B
[UK] Live
first appearance in Belgium
Point B is the creation of Richard Bultitude who began recording
at 15 years of age in Birkenhead, Merseyside. Since the days of
four-track recording Richard embraced computer technology and
converted many of his experimental guitar compositions to electronica
under the guise of 'Platforrm'. Meandering down a slightly darker
route 'Point B' was conceived in 2000 when Richard moved to London.
Having performed live and Djing at events (such as Casio Rock,
Imposter & Wheels Instead of Hooves) for many years he put
together his first commercial release for Erratica records in
2003 with the four track e.p. 'knowone'. Although only a small
quantity were pressed, it received much praise from peers and
retailers alike (see extract 1.1). The title track Knowone has
been played regularly in the clubs by the likes of Mat Carter
(Dedbeat / Haywire) and the b-side track 'breathindeep' track
on XFM radio by Nick Luscombe. Point b has also performed alongside
the likes Andy Weatherall, Lusine ICL, Pole and Soundmurderer.
A remix of Transparent Sound's seminal 'freaks frequency' is out
on promo and due out for general release by the end of May. A
four track e.p. named 'Fictionary' is also due out on Orson Records
in June this year. See extract 1.2 for a review from DJ Magazine.
More releases (possibly an album) are planned with Erratica in
2004.
1.1
'First release from this London based record label - and it promises
to be one to keep tabs on. Two tracks on each side - one side
of dark and scary electro / breaks business very much in the Tipper
/ Si Begg / CFM / Posthuman vein of things. Flip for the mellow
side - Beat driven electronic with plenty of melody - reminiscent
of folks like L'usine, Funckarma etc. Good record - recommended.'
Smallfish
1.2
Following his remix of Transparent Sound's 'Freaks Frequency',
Point B flies solo with his dark and experimental take on dancefloor
breaks. The pervy title track features the sound of a female orgasm
over funky electro-breaks. 'King Cirrus' fuses Aphex or Squarepusher's
reckless sense of breakbeat abandon with epic red planet soundscapes
and 'Erosion' ends the EP in style with a night drive to the sonic
alleyways once inhabited by Model 500.
